Beaujolais from Majestic Wine Warehouse is the perfect red wine to enjoy during the summer. The lighter reds are often best enjoyed chilled and make a great alternative to many rosé wines. The more serious Beaujolais wines from the cru rated villages make a wonderful accompaniment to barbecues or garden parties.

A recent "Manager's Choice" from Majestic Wine Warehouse was Moulin-ß-Vent 'Les Bruyères' 2006 B. de Monceny; Showing a nose of bitter chocolate, cherries and a wonderfully constructed palate, this Beaujolais could easily be mistaken for a Pinot Noir. It is however, a good example of a Beaujolais cru famed for its fuller style and keeness to age. At this price we're really impressed by its complexity and length.

Exclusively hand-harvested, the Eichberg Grand Crus can be enjoyed young but are capable of long maturation. The nose is exotic and spicy, showing lychees and honey, and the palate delivers powerful, opulent and intense flavours. Excellent with goats cheese, or even with fruit pies.

Chénas 2005, Cave du Château de Chénas, at Majestic Wine Warehouse
From a co-operative whose cellars, dating back to the 17th century, providing ideal conditions for barrel maturation. The excellent 2005 vintage has given a wine with a deep purple core, a nose of ripe red cherries and red currants and soft, ripe tannins on the palate. Full-bodied for a Chénas, with crisp, balanced acidity, this wine is at its best when drunk at 16ºC with delicatessen meats or chicken dishes.

Maranges 2005, Michel Sarrazin, at Majestic Wine
Situated in the heart of Burgundy's Côte Chalonnaise, this family estate with 30 hectares of vines has its origins in the 17th century. In 1964, Michel Sarrazin first began estate bottling, the emphasis on preserving the freshness and purity of the fruit while maintaining the sense of terroir. Fresh, rich and concentrated red fruit aromas with pure red berry flavours on the palate. The tannins are soft and round and the finish is crisp and clean.

This fabulous property is run by Marnier-Lapostolle, owners of Casa Lapostolle in Chile. Their vineyards are much sought after with flinty South-East facing slopes, and old vines. Piercingly concentrated and aromatic fruit, overlaid with a fine mineral complexity, this is one of the finest wines of Sancerre.

Rioja Reserva 2000, Muga, at Majestic Wine
Muga's Reserva has a lovely bouquet of vanilla and strawberry aromas that follow through elegantly on the palate.

Vocoret is a consistently good producer of Chablis and his Premier Crus are great examples of this style of Chardonnay. The Montmains vineyard produces wines of a very high standard offering stylish, well-delineated green melon flavours and a long finish.
